About Elicit

Research assistant that finds papers for a question, summarizes them and extracts details such as methods and outcomes into a table.

Elicit is an AI research assistant built for working with academic papers. You ask a research question, it searches a large corpus of papers, and it returns relevant studies with short summaries. You can then add columns to extract specific details from each paper, such as sample size, methods, population or main outcome.

Researchers use it to speed up the first pass of a literature review, to compare how studies measured the same thing, and to build an evidence table they then check by hand. It can also work with PDFs you upload, which helps when key papers sit behind a paywall your library covers.

Extraction can be wrong or incomplete, especially for numbers and subgroup results, so verify each extracted value against the paper before it goes into a manuscript. For formal systematic reviews, keep a documented search in the databases your field expects and use Elicit as an aid, not a replacement.
